On March 23, disabled athetes of pingalwara returned after a victorious run at the recently concluded world special
olympics summer in Abu Dhabi.The athletes were taken to Pingalwara’s Manawala branch where they were felicitated with garlands.
Shallu, a powerlifter from Pingalwara, has won four silver medals whereas Pinki, another athlete suffering from intellectual disability, brought home silver in basketball.
Pehal resource centre’s school of special children, too, had its share in the glory as two of its special athletes won silver. Udaypreet Singh won bronze and Gurjant Singh won silver in handball. Meanwhile, its another student Jasvir Singh also brought home a silver medal.
It was a proud moment for city schools for special children, said Dr Inderjit Kaur, director, Pingalwara. She said honing the talent of special athletes needed patience and perseverance.
