Special School has been set up to cater for the large number of Pingalwara children which suffer from Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Dyslexia or developmental reading disorders, language based disorders, ADHD or Attention Deficit Hyper Activity disorders, Autism Autistic Spectrum disorders. This school started in 1998 when two girls Surinder and Anita brought up in Pingalwara and they did diploma of special education.
Major emphasis which is laid during special education include communicating with others, taking care of personal need, health and personal safety, home living, social skills, reading, working and basic math. A state of the Art Sensory Room has been set up in the school for children suffering from Cerebral Palsy. It the sensory room the senses of the children are developed with the help of light, sound and colour. The school has a well stocked, soft toy play room and a computer lab.The school regularly provide all specialized therapies to our students including speech, physiotherapy, and vocational therapy.
The performance of our special children in various Special Olympics has been remarkable, Number of our students have bagged Gold Medals in various special Olympic. Most of our teachers have been trained as coaches in various special events like Baucee, cricket, basket ball, and athletics.
One of our Special Girl Dolly who represented India in Power Lifting Event in World Special Olympics Games-2015 at Los Angles USA won two bronze medals in Power lifting event (squat lifting and bench press). Shallu participated in complimentary games she won gold medal in table tennis in Los Angeles USA. Presently, there are over 195 special children who attend classes in the Special School regularly.
