Bhagat Puran Singh School of Special Education was established in 1998 to provide education, care and rehabilitation to the differently abled orphans and abandoned children of Pingalwara. Initially, the school started with 25 children inside the campus of Main Branch (Head office) of Pingalwara at Amritsar, and in 2008 it shifted to the beautiful Manawala Complex.
In 2017, the school moved to the new building equipped with barrier-free access and more facilities to cater to the increasing number of Pingalwara children suffering from disabilities like Cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, Dyslexia, Autism, ADHD, Intellectual disability and Global developmental delay (GDD). The school has 225 students. The School follows rules and regulations as per the guidelines of DOE/Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. Bhagat Puran Singh School of Special Education is well resourced and has a dedicated team of qualified, committed and understanding staff.

ACTIVITY BASED TEACHING
The students are taught through activity based methods which emphasizes on ‘learning by doing’ approach. It is a well-known fact that children are playful by nature. However, they are spontaneous and have a short attention span. Thus, Activity based teaching is inevitably one of the best ways a child can acquire and retain knowledge. They organise training and competition at local, district, state, national and international levels. The best performers, also referred to as the Selected Probables attend National Coaching Camps supported by the Sports Authority of India to prepare for international competitive events.
SOB conducts National Coaching Camps every year. Each camp gives athletes and coaches the opportunity to be trained in a specific sport. The Coaching Camps enable participants to acquire sport skills matching international standards to face global competitions.
Our students have been regularly participating in Special Olympics since 2015. They have performed incredibly well over these years and made India proud by winning numerous medals.
