Celebrating Community Spirit: Award Ceremony Commemorates 33rd Death Anniversary of Bhagat Puran Singh Ji

Award Distribution Ceremony Dedicated to the 33rd Death Anniversary of Bhagat Puran Singh Ji, Founder of Pingalwara Institution

On Sunday, August 3, 2025, at the Pingalwara Head Office, Tehsilpura, G.T. Road, Amritsar, an award distribution ceremony was held as part of the ongoing events commemorating the 33rd death anniversary of Bhagat Puran Singh Ji. The event was a joint initiative of the Pingalwara Society of Ontario (Canada) and Pingalwara Amritsar. Prizes were distributed to top-performing students from senior classes of:

  • Bhagat Puran Singh Adarsh Senior Secondary School, Mananwala
  • Bhagat Puran Singh School for the Deaf
  • Bhagat Puran Singh Institute for Special Needs
  • Bhagat Puran Singh Special School, Mananwala

The event was graced by Mr. Rajinderpal Singh (Retd. Group Captain), who was honored with the Bhagat Puran Singh Humanity Service Award last year. The program began with a Gurbani 

“ਅਵਲਿ ਅਲਹ ਨੂਰੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਬੰਦੇ”

Plays highlighting Bhagat Puran Singh Ji’s messages to society were performed. Students of the Bhagat Puran Singh Deaf School, Mananwala presented a play on “The Migration Tragedy of Punjabi Youth.”

Following that, annual reports of the participating schools—run under the joint project of Pingalwara Institution and Pingalwara Society of Ontario—were read by the respective principals. In the Adarsh Senior Secondary School, students of Class 10 and 12 performed exceptionally well in their board exams. Bicycles were awarded to students who secured merit positions.

Students from this school also brought honor to Pingalwara and their parents by excelling in sports like Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Basketball, Yoga, and Athletics at the zonal and district levels.

Students of the Bhagat Puran Singh School for the Deaf passed the Class 10 NIOS board exams with first division. In the DC Amritsar’s Future Tycoon program, students from the Deaf School won:

  • ₹50,000 cash prize in Sculpture
  • ₹20,000 in Macron Art and Raisin Art

Teachers and coaches from the Deaf School received ₹2,000 as awards for their excellent performance.

In the National Judo Competition held in Kanpur, they won gold and silver medals.Students from the Deaf School are now employed in various fields after completing their education. 

At the Bhagat Puran Singh Institute for Special Needs, two courses (H.I. and I.D.D.) are being offered, and many students are now employed in government jobs after completing these courses.

Mr. Rajinderpal Singh, the chief guest, congratulated the winning students and participants, stating that hard work and dedication in student life lead to great achievements.

Dr. Inderjit Kaur Ji, in her address, said that the humanitarian work at Pingalwara is progressing day and night with the support of the community. She extended heartfelt thanks to all supporters and acknowledged the dedicated volunteers who made the annual event a success. She also encouraged the winning students to continue their success in the future. The chief guest was honored with a token of appreciation and a message was shared to serve humanity like Bhagat Puran Singh Ji.
