The program commenced with the soulful recitation of Gurbani hymns. Hon’ble Punjab Health Minister, Dr. Balbir Singh, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, taking time out of his busy schedule. Bibi Kiranjot Kaur, Member of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, attended as the Guest of Honour. Dr. Inderjit Kaur, Chief Sevadar of Pingalwara, presented mementos of honor to the dignitaries.
Residents from different branches and wards showcased their talents through bhangra and giddha performances, This event is held the happiness of our residents Additionally, staff and patients of Pingalwara presented a play on the importance of water in the environment.
Principals of Bhagat Puran Singh Adarsh Senior Secondary School, Bhagat Puran Singh School for the Deaf, and Bhagat Puran Singh Special School—run under the joint initiative of Pingalwara Amritsar and the Pingalwara Society of Ontario—read out the annual reports of their respective schools. The reports highlighted notable academic achievements, particularly of students in Class 5 and Class 8 at the Adarsh School.
Meritorious students were awarded school bags, and Class 8 toppers received wristwatches as prizes. Deaf students of Bhagat Puran Singh School for the Deaf were awarded sports shoes for securing first place in Judo at the state level. Cash awards by Pingalwara Rs 1,000 each Teachers and deaf students of the Deaf School also cash awards. Students from the deaf school brought laurels from a scheme of deputy Commissioner they were given Rs. 50,000 & 20,000 for their sculptures.
Students of the Special School brought glory to the institution by excelling in national competitions including powerlifting, football, basketball, bowling, skating, badminton, table tennis, and drawing. These specially-abled students were rewarded with speakers, uniforms, and bicycles.
In his address, Dr. Balbir Singh expressed his heartfelt joy at visiting Pingalwara, describing it as a truly blessed experience. He said that Pingalwara is an institution from which true love for humanity can be learned. He pledged that the Punjab Government is fully committed to supporting Pingalwara, and any help required by the institution will be provided wholeheartedly. Bibi Kiranjot Kaur, in her speech, praised the efforts behind the award ceremony and congratulated the participating students, their teachers, and parents for their success in academics and co-curricular fields.
The event also featured a captivating musical performance by renowned singer Navjot Singh Mandar’s sons, Jaskanwar Singh and Navkaran Singh, along with their group, who performed on traditional instruments like algoza, toombi, and dhadd sarangi, leaving the audience spellbound.
Dr. Inderjit Kaur emphasized Pingalwara’s constant dedication to the welfare of humanity and said that this has only been possible through collective community support. She voiced concern about the deteriorating state of society and urged for the creation of a compassionate and conscious community, adding that continuing to serve humanity is the truest tribute to Bhagat Puran Singh Ji.
The stage was managed by the students of Bhagat Puran Singh Adarsh Senior Secondary School, Mananwale. The program concluded with the National Anthem.
