Pingalwara Hosts Seminar on Culture and Ethics in Memory of Bhagat Puran Singh Ji

As part of the series of programs dedicated to the 33rd death anniversary of Bhagat Puran Singh, founder of Pingalwara, a seminar was held today, Monday, August 4, 2025, at the Pingalwara Head Office, Tehsilpura, G.T. Road, Amritsar, on the topic of “Culture and ethics”.

On this occasion, Dr. Inderjit Kaur, Chief Sevadar of the Pingalwara organization, welcomed all speakers and audience. In her welcome address, she expressed deep concern over the condition of boys and girls suffering from drug addiction who have come to the Pingalwara institution recently. She said that witnessing their state deeply moved her heart and she is greatly worried about the youth of Punjab falling into bad habits.That is why she chose the seminar’s theme with the hope of guiding the youth towards better conduct and higher values.

She emphasized that communities that drift away from culture and ethics often face decline, and regretted that the cultural values and conduct of Punjabis are deteriorating day by day.

During the seminar, Dr. Swarajbir Singh was the first to share his views. He stated that equality is essential for a prosperous society. If our conduct is virtuous, we can truly be called human. He also referenced verses from Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Gurbani, encouraging people to follow those teachings for uplifting human behavior.

Following him, renowned scholar S. Hamir Singh, in his address, said that Bhagat Puran Singh set an extraordinary example in terms of culture and ethics that few can match. He stressed the need to rise against the prevailing social evils in today’s society and declared that if one wants to learn how to work for the welfare of all, there’s no better example than Pingalwara.

Dr. Gurcharan Singh Noorpur mentioned vulgar songs by singars in punjab have destroyed the youth, which is a serious concern. To ensure that today’s youth maintain pure and elevated conduct, it’s imperative to fight against the social evils spreading in our communities.

Distinguished speaker and scholar Dr. Sumel Singh added that there is a pressing need for the formation of truthful individuals, and Pingalwara is significantly contributing through such seminars and literary outreach. He advocated for the launch of a major movement against the social evils in Punjab.

On this occasion, Dr. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, MLA, delivered the vote of thanks and concluded the program by stating that Bhagat Puran Singh lived a pure and exemplary life, which is no ordinary feat. By learning from every moment of his life, we can strive to become truthful humans. Dr. Kunwar Vijay Pratap also announced that he wull be donating his property to the Pingalwara institution.

Chief Guest Shri Ashok Sethi was present at the event and honored all the attending guests and scholars. The stage was effectively conducted by S. Amarjeet Singh.

In addition, staff from various schools and sevadar volunteers from different wards and departments were present.
