‘Great need to improve autism education in India’
A Seminar on Autism was held at Manwala Branch of Pingalwara by a team consisting of Dr. Karen Guldberg Director Autism Centre for Education and Research School of Education University of Birmingham UK, Manpreet Kaur Co-ordinator Hope & Compassion Charity Birmingham and Jane Bailey (Shadbam). In the Seminar Dr. Karen explained at length the need to create awareness about the Autism. She explained at length the causes of Autism, its proper understanding by teachers, parents and medical professionals. The team imparted the skill and knowledge about autism and various techniques to handle children affected with this disorder.
Dr. Karen Guldberg stated that they hoped to set up sustainable network and partnership and will undertake a training needs analysis with a sample of parents and teachers in order to identity how they would be able to offer meaningful sustainable and long term partnership and support with Pingalwara.
The Seminar was largely attended by teachers from Govt. Medical College headed by Dr. Jagdeepak Singh Prof. ENT, Dr. Kulwinder Singh Sandhu, Nursing students from Mai Bhago College of Nursing and Royal institute of Nursing Batala Gurdaspur.
