Tree Plantation Campaign by Pingalwara Institution

On April 21, 2025, the Pingalwara Institution and EcoSikh Organization jointly initiated the planting of a “Guru Nanak Sacred Forest” in memory of Bhagat Puran Singh at Village Narayan Garh, Dasuya, Hoshiarpur, Punjab. The campaign was inaugurated by Dr. Inderjit Kaur, Chief Sevadar of Pingalwara, Amritsar. Dr. Supreet Kaur, President of EcoSikh, and Director S. Rajinderpal Singh welcomed Dr. Inderjit Kaur upon her arrival. Team member S. Pavneet Singh shared that the entire forest has been planted over 1200 square meters, comprising 3,300 saplings of 44 traditional species.
This initiative, dedicated to the auspicious occasion of Vaisakhi and Khalsa Sajna Diwas, honors the teachings of Bhagat Puran Singh Ji—the founder of All India Pingalwara Charitable Society, Amritsar—who emphasized love for nature and environmental stewardship. Through this “Guru Nanak Sacred Forest,” a unique step has been taken to combat climate change while providing a future habitat for birds and other wildlife.
In her inspirational address, Dr. Inderjit Kaur said that Bhagat Puran Singh Ji was deeply concerned about environmental issues throughout his life. He spread awareness through literature, booklets, and advertisements about the importance of trees for human life. The institution also established a nursery and has been planting trees in many schools and public places for the last 15 years. This joint effort by EcoSikh and Pingalwara aims to raise awareness and bring greenery to Punjab and the world amidst the growing environmental crisis. Director S. Rajinderpal Singh mentioned that Bhagat Puran Singh Schools for the deaf are being operated in various districts, including one opening soon in Narayan Garh, Hoshiarpur. These schools aim to make children self-reliant and capable of standing on their own in society. The Deaf students actively contributed to this forest campaign by planting saplings. Dr. Inderjit Kaur thanked S. Dalbir Singh of Narayan Garh, who donated the land to the Pingalwara Institution.
On this occasion, the entire EcoSikh team, Pawan Sharma, Bibi Sukhbir Kaur from the land department, children from the Pingalwara Deaf School, and residents from nearby villages were present.
