World Mental Health Day Celebrated at Pingalwara Manawala Complex, Amritsar

On Friday, October 10, 2025, World Mental Health Day was celebrated at the Manawala Complex branch of All India Pingalwara Charitable Society (Regd.), Amritsar.

The program began with the children of Bhagat Puran Singh Special Education School presenting flower bouquets to Mrs. Renu Suri (Guest of Honour), Dr. Inderjit Kaur, and        Dr. Sneh Kumar, followed by a welcome song.

On this occasion, Dr. Sneh Kumar (Mental Health Specialist) explained that mental health is an essential part of our lives as it directly affects our thinking, feelings, and decision-making abilities. If we are not mentally healthy, our daily life, relationships, and work can be affected. Therefore, awareness is very important so that people can understand their problems, seek help in time, and live a healthy life.

Later, Mr. Gulshan Ranjan, who serves as a Medical Social Worker in Pingalwara, gave a presentation about the patients residing in the institution. He explained the conditions in which patients are admitted to Pingalwara and how, after proper treatment, they are reunited with their families.

During the event, Dr. Jagdeepak Singh, Vice President of All India Pingalwara Charitable Society (Regd.), Amritsar, shared his thoughts on the mental health of wives of snorers. He mentioned that the mental health of such wives often gets affected due to lack of proper sleep at night, which may lead to fatigue, irritability, and stress. Over time, this condition may cause problems like depression or anxiety.

Ms. Prabhjot Kaur, a teacher at Bhagat Puran Singh Institute for Special need, provided information about the types and importance of mental health, while Ms. Amarjot Kaur, also a teacher at the institute, spoke about the role of spirituality in mental health.

Students from Royal Institute of Nursing and Khalsa College of Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing / GNM) participated in the event. On this occasion, patients from different wards of Pingalwara Manawala Branch and children from the special school participated in a drawing competition.

Dr. Inderjit Kaur expressed gratitude to the guests and students who participated in the program. The event was also attended by Mr. Yogesh Suri, Mr. Rajinderpal Singh, Mr. Parminderjit Singh Bhatti, Mrs. Surinder Kaur Bhatti, Dr. Inderjit Kaur Renu, Mr. Pawan Sharma, and in-charges of various wards.
