CME ON 28H & 29TH APRIL ,2018 LIVE COCHLEAR IMPLANT SURGERY
On 28th & 29th April, 2018 at Manawala Complex of Pingalwara, live cochlear implant surgeries were performed on a Parminder Kaur 28 yrs and on 29th Manvir Kaur 5 yrs and Sukhman Kaur 8yrs deaf children, belonging to a very poor family by team led by Padma Shri Awardee and renowned cochlear implant surgeon Dr. JM Hans alongwith Dr. Jagdeepak Singh Professor of ENT Govt. Medical College Amritsar. The cost of this implant is Rs. 6.9 lacs which will be entirely borne by Pingalwara.
During this CME on 27th April 2018 Dr. Inderjit Kaur while welcoming the eminent assembly of ENT experts from Punjab Haryana, Himachal, J&K, U.P., Delhi and Chandigarh explained the contribution of Bhagat Puran Singh towards serving the humanity and said that it is only with the blessings of great saint Bhagat Puran Singh that Pingalwara is able to perform this historical feat fourth time. Earlier in the years five cochlear implants surgeries had been performed. She also expressed the hope that Pingalwara will endeavour to carry out minimum of two implant surgeries every alternate year. The complete surgery wa live telecast from Operation Theatre to Auditorium.
During this CME over 200 ENT experts from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal, Jammu and Kashmir, U.P. and Delhi participated and discussed the problem and latest techniques of treatment.
During the CME Dr. Ashok Gupta Prof of ENT PGI Chandigarh Dr. Vikas Kakkar Prof. of ENT PGI Rohtak, , Dr. Jasveer Singh (City Hospital Attached to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital N.D), Dr. Satish Mehta Jammu. Dr. Dhirendra Khushwaha, New Delhi, Dr. Prahlad Duggal, Dr. Grace Budhiraja Prof ENT, Adesh College Bathinda, Dr. Amrik Singh, Dr. AP Singh Additional Secretary SGRD Institute of Medical Science were specially honoured Dr. Jiwan Lata Principal Govt. Dental College Amritsar was given Bhagat Puran Singh Enterprising Lady of the year Award.
On the conclusion of CME Dr. Jagdeepak Singh thanked the entire ENT fraternity for participating in this historical event and expressed the hope that Pingalwara will continue with its efforts in serving the deaf population of India in its own humble way.
