First day of barsi
A special exhibition was organised by the All India Pingalwara Charitable Society . The exhibition is a part of activities to be carried out to observe the 25th death anniversary of its founder Bhagat Puran Singh. The exhibition saw participation by special children, patients and inmates of the Pingalwara.
A large number of handicraft items, household things, decoration material, eatables, rakhis made by the Pingalwara children and patients were put on display along with a model explaining zero budget natural farming. The exhibition also saw stalls creating awareness about artificial lambs and physiotherapy.
What caught attentions of most of the visitors were the specially crafted decorated items made by the inmates. The items were available for purchase at a nominal price. The students along with their teachers from various schools under the society were seen displaying the beautifully-handcrafted items. Poonam, a student, said, “I enjoy doing this craft work. I am very happy to be part of the exhibition.
”Neetu Mahajan, an art and craft teacher, said, “Such children love doing the craft work. I teach at a deaf school. I train my children with the help of sign language. It is a long process to make them learn. This will really motivate them.
”Inderjit Kaur, patron and president of All India Pingalwara Charitable Society, said the aim behind organising the exhibition was to expose the young minds to the opportunities to earn through their skills. Pingalwara is a home for people with disabilities, abandoned, mentally-challenged and elderly suffering from incurable and multiple diseases.
