Environmental Awareness Rally Organized by Pingalwara in Amritsar

Bhagat Puran Singh began working for environmental protection and awareness in the year 1927. In this regard, All India Pingalwara Charitable Society is organizing a series of events before the completion of 100 years in 2027 of his environmental conservation efforts.

In continuation of this, today on 16-04-2026, under the leadership of Dr. Inderjit Kaur, the Pingalwara family organized a “Mega Environmental Awareness Rally.” During the rally, people were educated about saving water, using cloth bags instead of plastic bags, using earthen utensils instead of plastic bottles, and adopting copper and brass utensils in homes to prevent serious diseases.

During the rally, cloth bags were distributed to people who were carrying plastic bags, with a strong appeal to switch to eco-friendly alternatives in the future.

The rally started from the Pingalwara Head Office, Amritsar, and passed through G.T. Road, Hussainpura Chowk, Nandan Cinema Chowk, Rambagh Chowk, Hall Gate, Gol Hatti, Rambagh Bazaar, Sabzi Mandi Rambagh, IDH Market Bus Stand, Chowk Maqbool Singh, Shera Wala Gate, Ghee Mandi, Akali Phoola Singh Road, and Ram Talai Tandooran Wala Chowk, before concluding back at the Pingalwara Head Office.

Approximately 800 students from various schools along with their teachers participated in the rally. These included students and staff from Bhagat Puran Singh Adarsh Senior Secondary School, School for the Deaf, Special School, Institute for Special Needs, Chief Khalsa Diwan, and Shaheed Udham Singh Orphanage, under the leadership of Dr. Atamjit Singh Basra.

The children raised slogans such as “Save Water Drop by Drop,” “Replace Plastic,” “Use Cloth Bags,” and “Keep the Environment Clean,” spreading awareness about preventing serious diseases.

After the rally, langar (community meal) was served to all participants. The langar service was provided by Sri Harmandir Sahib.

At the end, Dr. Inderjit Kaur expressed her gratitude to all participants for making the rally a success.
