On the Second Day of the Foundation Day Celebrations, Powerful Theatrical Performances Delivered a Message of Environmental Protection and Plastic-Free Living
On the second day of the 26th Annual Foundation Day celebrations of Pingalwara Branch, Sangrur, located on Dhuri Road, a series of impactful short plays were successfully staged.
Dedicated to the Environmental Awareness Centenary inspired by the teachings of Bhagat Puran Singh Ji, artists from the Amritsar branch presented two plays—“Plant Trees, Save the Future” and “A Discussion on Plastic and Cloth Bags”. These plays, written by Dalwinder Singh (Amritsar) and directed by Yugesh Suri (Administrator, Amritsar), highlighted the importance of trees and raised awareness about the harmful effects of plastic, encouraging the use of cloth bags.
Additionally, students of Lifeguard Institute, under the direction of Prof. Raj Singh (Sangrur branch), performed the play “The Tale of Fading Breaths”, written by Dr. Kuldeep Singh Deep. The play portrayed how modern lifestyles—cutting trees, living in concrete structures, and building large malls—are contributing to rising temperatures and environmental degradation. Through powerful characters, it depicted how humanity is heading towards its final breaths due to environmental neglect.
The event was organized under the supervision of Dr. Inderjit Kaur (Chief Sevadar), Rajbir Singh, and Harjit Singh Arora. Harjit Singh, former Director of Doordarshan Jalandhar, attended as the Chief Guest, while Bhai Gobind Singh Longowal, former President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, graced the occasion as Special Guest.
Among other distinguished personalities present were Colonel Japjit Singh, Rajbir Singh (Amritsar), and Madam Ripanjot Kaur (Patiala). Principal Rajvinder Pal Singh (Gurmat College, Mastuana Sahib) and Surinder Pal Singh Sidki (PRO) also shared their experiences, raising awareness about serious environmental challenges related to air and water pollution, and inspiring efforts toward a pollution-free environment. The audience appreciated the performances and speeches with loud applause.
Gaurav Singh from Pingalwara Amritsar presented a thematic song, while Meet Rangrez (Chandigarh) conveyed a strong message for a plastic-free lifestyle through his artistic performance.
Harjit Singh (Director) and Bhai Gobind Singh Longowal appreciated Pingalwara’s efforts in effectively promoting and spreading the vision of Bhagat Puran Singh Ji. Dr. Inderjit Kaur expressed her gratitude and shared information about upcoming programs under the Environmental Awareness Centenary.
Under the stage management of Surinder Pal Singh Sidki, the organizers honored the speakers and guests, including Jai Singh (Canada), Jagjeevan Singh (Canada), and Meet Rangrez. The honors were presented by Dr. Inderjit Kaur, Rajbir Singh, Jagdeepak Singh (Amritsar), and Harjit Singh Arora.
