Today, a Mega Blood Donation Camp was organized at the Manawala Branch of the All India Pingalwara Charitable Society (Regd.), Amritsar to commemorate the 34th Death Anniversary of Bhagat Puran Singh Ji, the founder of the Pingalwara Institution.
On this occasion, Dr. Rabinder Singh Sethi, President, Indian Medical Association (IMA), Punjab, graced the event as the Chief Guest. He was warmly welcomed by Dr. Inderjit Kaur, Chief Sewadar of the Pingalwara Institution, and was presented with flowers by the children of the institution.
While addressing the gathering, Dr. Inderjit Kaur stated that every year a blood donation camp is organized on the occasion of Bhagat Puran Singh Ji’s death anniversary with the support of Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, Amritsar, and Sri Guru Ram Das University of Health Sciences, Vallah, Amritsar.
She informed that 140 units of blood were donated with great enthusiasm by voluntary blood donors. She emphasized that everyone should actively participate in blood donation camps, as donating blood is one of the noblest gifts that can save a human life. She further stated that the blood collected during the camp would be used for the treatment of destitute and needy patients whenever required.
Dr. Inderjit Kaur further informed that blood donors included Sewadars of the Pingalwara Institution, students from Amritsar College of Engineering and Technology, Sahibzada Jujhar Singh Gurmat College, Chawnta Kalan, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, and members of the Bhagat Puran Singh Blood Donation Cell, led by Rana Palwinder Singh.
A special highlight of the event was that Dr. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh personally donated blood during the camp. Addressing the gathering, he described blood donation as the greatest gift to humanity and encouraged people not to hesitate in donating blood, as a single donation can save precious lives.
On this occasion, an exhibition of artworks created by the children of the institution was also displayed. In addition, various departments and educational institutions functioning under the Pingalwara Institution organized informative exhibitions, including Bhagat Puran Singh Adarsh Senior Secondary School, Bhagat Puran Singh School for the Deaf, Bhagat Puran Singh Special School, Manawala Kalan, the Artificial Limb Centre, Vocational Training Centre, and the Physiotherapy Centre. These exhibits showcased the institution’s educational, rehabilitation, and humanitarian services.
