As part of the three-day programme commemorating the 34th Death Anniversary of Bhagat Puran Singh Ji, founder of the Pingalwara Institution, the foundation stone of the Bhagat Puran Singh Museum was laid on the second day of the celebrations at the Pingalwara Manawala Complex.
The foundation stone for the grand museum building was ceremonially laid amidst the chanting of Sikh religious slogans by the Panj Piare, Giani Kewal Singh (Former Jathedar), S. Avtar Singh Ghulla, Dr. Mehal Singh (Vice-Chancellor), Dr. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, and S. Gurinder Singh of Printwell Press.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, Dr. Inderjit Kaur, Chief Sewadar of the Pingalwara Institution, said that it had been her long-cherished dream to establish a museum that would preserve and showcase the life, memories, and invaluable contributions of Bhagat Puran Singh Ji. She expressed her happiness that this dream has now begun to take shape.
Dr. Inderjit Kaur further informed that the architectural design of the museum has been prepared by Pooja, who was raised at the Pingalwara Institution, and her husband, Jodh Singh Mann, a professional architect. She also mentioned that construction of another museum building at the Pingalwara Sangrur Branch is progressing rapidly.
Responding to a question from the media, Dr. Inderjit Kaur observed that today’s generation lacks inspiring role models. She emphasized the need to introduce present and future generations to the life and ideals of Bhagat Puran Singh Ji, who dedicated his entire life solely to the selfless service of humanity.
She said that connecting children and young people with the life and philosophy of Bhagat Puran Singh Ji is essential for nurturing moral values, compassion, and a spirit of selfless service. She expressed confidence that the museum would be completed soon and that it would be expanded further in the future, whenever required, so that under one roof visitors would be able to witness the various humanitarian services and lifelong mission of Bhagat Puran Singh Ji.
Speaking to journalists, Dr. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, MLA from Amritsar, expressed his happiness at having the opportunity to lay the foundation stone of the museum. He remarked that personalities like Bhagat Puran Singh Ji are born only on rare occasions. He said that the museum would serve as a source of inspiration for students and visitors by presenting the exemplary life, noble ideals, and extraordinary humanitarian service rendered by Bhagat Puran Singh Ji, ensuring that his legacy continues to inspire future generations.
