The three-day programme commemorating the 34th Death Anniversary of Bhagat Puran Singh Ji, founder of the Pingalwara Institution, concluded today at the Head Office of the Pingalwara Institution near the Bus Stand, Amritsar.
The concluding ceremony began with the Bhog (completion ceremony) of the Sri Sehaj Path, which had commenced on 27th July, followed by the recitation of Sri Sukhmani Sahib. On this occasion, the children of the Pingalwara Institution mesmerized the congregation with the soulful rendition of Gurbani Kirtan. This was followed by devotional Kirtan performed by the students of Bhagat Puran Singh Gurmat College, Rajewal (Rohno), Chawnta Kalan.
Thereafter, Bhai Jagdev Singh Ji, renowned preacher from Sri Manji Sahib, and Giani Surjit Singh Sabhra, Head Granthi of Gurdwara Shaheeda Sahib, delivered inspiring discourses highlighting the life, philosophy, and unparalleled humanitarian service of Bhagat Puran Singh Ji. The congregation was further blessed with Gurbani Kirtan by the jatha led by Bhai Jasbir Singh of Punjab & Sind Bank.
A major highlight of the programme was the presentation of the “Bhagat Puran Singh Humanitarian Service Award” for this year to Shri Subhash Sharma, who has successfully reunited more than 2,300 missing and separated individuals with their families.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Inderjit Kaur, Chief Sewadar of the Pingalwara Institution, said that Shri Subhash Sharma’s dedicated efforts to reunite missing persons with their families are truly exceptional and represent an outstanding service to humanity.
Expressing his gratitude after receiving the award, Shri Subhash Sharma shared that he has helped reunite missing persons with their families across 26 states of India, describing the work as a mission of compassion and humanitarian service.
On the occasion, the English translation of Dr. Inderjit Kaur’s Punjabi and Hindi book “Pyar Diyan Tandan” was officially released under the title “Strings of Love”, translated by Dr. Jaspreet Kaur, who is based in the United States of America. Another Hindi publication on health education, titled “Anek Bimariyon Ki Jad: Nishkarsh Jeevan Shaili” (Lifestyle – The Root Cause of Many Diseases), was also released.
Addressing the gathering, Colonel Jasjit Singh spoke about the growing environmental crisis and expressed concern over the lack of seriousness shown by governments towards environmental protection. He stressed that every individual must become personally conscious and responsible for protecting the environment.
Renowned writer S. Gurcharan Singh Noorpur observed that personalities like Bhagat Puran Singh Ji are born only rarely. He urged the congregation to seriously reflect upon Bhagat Puran Singh Ji’s vision and concerns regarding environmental conservation, emphasizing that his message is more relevant today than ever before.
Other distinguished speakers, including S. Kulwant Singh Anakhi and S. Mangal Singh, also shared their thoughts and paid tribute to the life and legacy of Bhagat Puran Singh Ji.
In her concluding address, Dr. Inderjit Kaur thanked all the devotees and guests who attended the commemorative events. She said that the true tribute to Bhagat Puran Singh Ji lies in adopting his noble ideals of selfless service, compassion, and environmental stewardship. She emphasized that if humanity wishes to protect the world from the growing environmental crisis, it must follow the teachings and vision of Bhagat Puran Singh Ji.
She further appealed to the Government to impose the strictest possible punishment on those responsible for polluting groundwater and other natural water resources, stating that protecting the environment is essential for safeguarding future generations.
A large number of devotees from Punjab, various parts of India, and abroad attended the concluding ceremony, with many arriving in organized buses from different districts. The programme was efficiently compered by S. Rajbir Singh, who conducted the stage proceedings throughout the event.
