All India Pingalwara Charitable Society (Regd) Amritsar.

Now it is not just about environmental protection, but about our very survival

A special meeting was organized by the All India Pingalwara Charitable Society at its Pingalwara branch situated on Dhuri Road. The meeting was held under the supervision of Tarlochan Singh Cheema (Chief Manager), Harjeet Singh Arora (Additional Manager), Dr. Upasana (Administrative Officer), and Gurpreet Kaur (Amritsar).

Following the directions of Dr. Inderjit Kaur, Chief Sevadar of the Charitable Society, more than 100 distinguished personalities from the city and nearby areas, including educationists, students, and representatives of religious and social organizations, attended the meeting.

Dr. Inderjit Kaur stated that, inspired by the message on environmental protection given by Pingalwara founder Bhagat Puran Singh Ji through his writings in 1927, Pingalwara has prepared a detailed outline of major activities under the 100-year Environmental Protection Centenary Campaign (1927–2027).

Referring to the principle, “Pavan Guru, Pani Pita, Mata Dharat Mahat,” she said that air, water, and land have been polluted to such an alarming extent that humanity must now seriously consider whether it wishes to survive or perish in this contaminated environment. She appealed to all environmentalists and organizations to actively support and contribute to this mission.

Earlier, under the stage management of Principal Dr. Iqbal Singh Sakarodi, Surinder Pal Singh Sidki (PRO) highlighted the remarkable contribution of Bhagat Puran Singh Ji toward environmental protection and delivered the welcome address.

Renowned environmentalist and educationist Avtar Singh Dhindsa also expressed deep concern over the deteriorating environmental conditions and appreciated the initiative undertaken by Pingalwara.

Dr. A.S. Mann, President of the Scientific Awareness Association, stated that the improper management of waste in Sangrur city is causing serious health issues among residents. He urged Pingalwara to coordinate with the district administration to address this concern.

On this occasion, Dalwinder Singh (Amritsar) elaborated on the various activities planned for environmental protection. He stated that Pingalwara will conduct awareness campaigns in cities and villages through light and sound programs, organize events in educational institutions, and collaborate with colleges and universities by involving Vice Chancellors and Deans. Letters will also be sent to the Chief Minister and Education Minister of Punjab, as well as the Governor, requesting the establishment of an Environmental University and the issuance of a commemorative ₹100 coin to mark the centenary occasion.

Efforts will also be made to involve Gram Sabhas and Municipal Committees in the campaign, while awareness materials will be distributed through printed advertisements and promotional stalls. Under the tree plantation campaign, bamboo and khas plants will be planted along weak riverbanks. Awareness regarding the benefits of natural farming will also be spread through plays and street theatre performances.

During the event, cloth bags prepared by Pingalwara were distributed among all participants along with a message encouraging the adoption of a plastic-free lifestyle.

Major Singh Masani (Sarpanch) thanked everyone for their participation and invited them to attend the annual foundation day celebrations of the Sangrur branch scheduled for 29th March.

Dr. Amandeep Kaur, Principal of Akal Degree College, Mastuana Sahib, also extended her support and services for the campaign.

A specially designed logo for the Environmental Protection Centenary Campaign was also unveiled and installed at the branch during the event.
